We were asked to provide workshops for a community project over the Easter Holidays – and we were so busy!! 80+ cups in 3 days!
We’re very busy down at Base Art, working on our own practice, developing ideas for a new exhibition at The Workers Gallery. We are trying to develop pieces that are more commercial, but would still be recognised as our work. Here’s a sneak peek of what we’ve been working on, as well as the poster for the show, which is open now –
Our workshops are becoming much more popular which is great as there is some amazing work being made!! Such a range of techniques and forms – it’s inspiring to watch. Here are some examples of the work made in our workshops –
There are limited spaces in our workshops so if you are interested in making amazing pieces like the ones above, please contact us! We run workshops every Tuesday morning 11 – 1, then Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings 6 – 8pm.
What’s been going on with us? LOTS!
I know we have been naughty and haven’t updated much over the last year – so our plan is to update our website and blog more often and post lots of writing, photos and even videos! Bits about us, bits about our classes, bits about the studio – lots to get to grips with.
We have added an extra pottery class – as well as Tuesday mornings, Tuesday evenings and Thursday evenings, we have introduced a new Wednesday evening class! Demand is quite high, which is great!
What else has been happening? Well, the building in which we have our studio, created more studio spaces and they have been filled by more ceramicists! So the basement of the building is shared between 7 artists at the moment, possibly more in the future.
Lara and Sue spent most of last year preparing for their exhibition, which ran through October 2015.
Here are some photos of the excellent work produced by our students:
We are very proud of our students. Here are some of their works!
